Immigration targets nationwide housing for personnel | Prestige Real Estate News

The Nigeria Immigration Service NIS has restated its commitment to providing nationwide housing for its personnel, disclosing plans to replicate ongoing housing projects across the country.

This was made known on Wednesday during the official commissioning of the Nigeria Immigration Service Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited NIMCOS Housing Estate at Kutunku Extension, Gwagwalada Area Council, delivered in partnership with a private developer.

Comptroller General of Immigration Service CGIS, Kemi Nana Nandap, who was represented by the Deputy Comptroller General DCG in charge of Visa and Residency, Dr Franca Usiwoma Nwanneka, said the event was a clear demonstration of the Service’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel, noting that good housing remained one of the most important aspects of staff welfare as it provides security, promotes stability, and enables officers to perform their duties more effectively.

Nwaneka commended the Executive Committee of NIMCOS for their foresight, dedication, and commitment to improving the welfare of members through the initiative, and equally appreciated Abiskoly Real Estate Developers for partnering with the cooperative society in executing the project, saying their professionalism, commitment to quality, and timely delivery had contributed immensely to the success being celebrated.

She urged beneficiaries of the housing units to take good care of the facilities and ensure the estate was properly maintained.

“Maintenance is key. It may be your personal property, but take care of it. Let it be decent so that when people come here and see it, they will want more of it elsewhere,” Nwaneka said.

In his keynote address, the President of NIMCOS, Dr. Salihu Barau Dauda, described the occasion as not merely the commissioning of buildings but the celebration of a vision fulfilled and another landmark achievement in the pursuit of improving the welfare and quality of life of members of the cooperative society.

He disclosed that the estate comprises of 150 housing units consisting of modern two-bedroom and three-bedroom bungalows designed to provide comfort, durability, functionality and an environment conducive to family life, adding that the official land-breaking ceremony for the estate was held on 13th August 2025.

Dauda revealed that the occasion was particularly unique as it marked the commissioning of not one but two housing estates on the same day, the second being a 1,000-unit housing estate located in Kuchiyako District of Kuje Area Council, also developed by Abiskoly.

He said the achievement did not happen overnight, noting that NIMCOS had facilitated land acquisition programmes in several locations across the country and had successfully provided housing opportunities for members at the Brains and Hammers Bungalow City, Dei-Dei, Abuja.
