Honourable Godwin Alenkhe (EFA) has emerged the national president of Estate Rent Commission Agents Association of Nigeria (ERCAAN). Below is his acceptance speech at the event.

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE NEWLY ELECTED NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF ERCAAN, HONOURABLE GODWIN ALENKHE (EFA) AT THE SWEARING-IN AND INAUGURATION OF NATIONAL OFFICERS ON THE 9TH OF MAY, 2025 AT ALHAJA ABIBATU MOGAJI HALL, COKER AGUDA LCDA.

PROTOCOL

It is with great humility and appreciation that I stand before you as the newly elected National Unified President of our noble Association, ERCAAN. The road to this historical occasion has been marked by thought-provoking experiences that will linger long in the minds of our highly committed members. The road to our unification will go down as one of the most unforgettable story in the long history of our Association.

This Association, from its inception, has been the inspiration and pathway for the real estate profession and establishment in Nigeria. Our founding fathers had the true vision of correcting the decay and maladies confronting the real estate enterprise with our age-long symbol crafted in honesty. However, our crisis and final unification have revealed the faces of the true lovers of ERCAAN and also our enemies. Therefore, from this new beginning, we will start laying the lasting foundation to rebuild this Association.

By today’s election, we have finally fused the Association together and conceded positions for the true oneness of ERCAAN. All the candidates elected were duly approved by their zones and state chapters in line with the provisions of our Constitution. My management team is made up of competent and highly qualified persons across all the state chapters of ERCAAN.

Our mandate, in line with my manifestos, is to carry out a total overhaul of the operational and administrative structure of the Association by proposing a ten-year development plan for ERCAAN to cover our lost ground. We shall set up committees with highly committed members that will assist my executives in executing some of our outlined programs.

Our administration shall embark on training and building up the human development capacity of our members through partnerships with institutions and also setting up Real Estate Academies for all states, leading to certification for global recognition. We shall commence the process of membership identification through e-registration that will be uploaded directly on our existing website, www.ercaannational.org.ng.

This administration shall embark on advocacy and enlightenment to correct the bad impression of our members and the real estate practitioners. We shall partner with genuine stakeholders and the government in addressing the issue of home shortages, astronomical increases in rental properties, and the cost of building materials. As a responsible Association, we shall devise means of assisting Nigerians to obtain loans for rental properties and also advocate for subsidies for those seeking to buy their permanent homes.

Furthermore, for the Association to be fully equipped constitutionally, we shall review our existing laws to address some of the visible impunity displayed during the course of our unification and also meet up with the challenges confronting the real estate profession.

As we prepare for this great task ahead, the National Body shall put in place the process for our permanent secretariat while also renting a befitting corporate office before the end of the year.

Our expansion drive to create more state chapters shall commence with the inauguration of ERCAAN Abia Chapter before the end of the year. And for the merger of our Lagos State Chapter, we shall put in place a formidable, loyal, and unbiased structure to stand the test of time.

Finally, for us to have an Association that will be a pride of all, we must rededicate ourselves to making unparalleled sacrifices and unmeasurable loyalty.

ERCAAN patriots like Pa Michael Adeogun (efa), Elder Sunday Ogundipe (efa), Hon. Pst Fehintolu Ogunleye (efa), Elder Sunnyemi Adenowo (efa), and many others have shown that their mentorship is the reason for our continued existence.

I would like to thank the members of the Caretaker Committee led by Hon. Lanre Afolayan (efa) for this great occasion, members of the Registered Board of Trustees, members of the Reconciliation Committee, members of the Council of State Chapter Chairmen for their loyalty, my campaign and mobilization committee members, all ERCAAN lovers nationwide, and our partners and friends.

With this historical occasion, your patience and perseverance are highly deserved, and we promise not to derail from our manifestos.
