Technology is revolutionising Nigeria’s housing sector, mitigating supply and demand mismatch, reducing cost of supply, construction, expanding access to capital and improving risk predictions methods, as well as reducing cost of loan administration, property inspection and real estate transactions.

Currently, technologies used in the housing sector include 3D-printed houses, sustainable and recycled building materials, construction robots and automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), Building Information Modeling (BIM), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).

According to him, housing is one of the most essential human needs, as it plays a vital role in ensuring people’s well-being, saying, “It is crucial to focus on how to leverage technology and innovation in the building industry towards improving affordable housing supply in a sustainable manner.”

He explained that technology has immense potential to transform the housing sector and provide solutions to city slums, as well as better conditions of living for rural dwellings. The chairman stressed that technology should be leveraged to provide cheaper and affordable housing for Nigerians.

Opaluwah said: “By leveraging these advancements, we can build high-quality, affordable and sustainable homes that meet the needs of our growing population.”

In recent years, we have witnessed several innovative technologies, which are transforming the housing sector.
